LIMUN 2025: A Conference Spreading Kindness, Friendship, Love, and Fun

While MUN conferences demand intense preparation, long hours of debate, and no small amount of stress, they also provide an opportunity for delegates to unwind, forge new friendships, and create unforgettable memories outside the committee room. This is precisely where socials come in, offering a much-needed break from the formalities of debate and allowing participants to connect as the incredible individuals they are behind their placards.

After all, the most serious delegate in the committee might just be the one tearing up the dance floor at the club social.

Of course, some delegates may find themselves debating the next morning while nursing a hangover, but the friendships made in the process make it all worth it. LIMUN 2025 delegates seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the social events, which included a club night at Fire London, one of the city’s premier nightclubs known for its mix of local and international events, and a grand ball at Banking Hall, an exclusive Art Deco venue in the heart of the bustling city.

While the socials were a highlight for many, opinions varied. The ball, in particular, was a clear favorite among delegates and staff alike. However, a delegate from the COP committee noted that the club social’s music was a bit repetitive and could have been more diverse, prompting them to leave after just thirty minutes. In contrast, they found the ball’s music much better, despite some minor technical issues around midnight, which, for some, was a perfect Cinderella-style cue to head home.

A staff member who attended both events wished for some reggaeton at the club but still enjoyed the chance to dress up for the ball, definitely making the girls feel like princesses. They also emphasized the importance of attending socials, not just for fun, but as a way for delegates to network in a relaxed atmosphere.

Interestingly, the same staff member suggested a pub crawl as a potential MUN social event in the future. With London’s many lively pub-lined streets, it could be a fun and immersive way for delegates to explore the host city while unwinding after a long day of committee sessions. Certainly an idea worth considering for next year’s conference!

Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, LIMUN Spreads Love, and So Do You

Beyond the debates and socials, LIMUN 2025 was also filled with love, quite literally, thanks to the rose tradition. Throughout the conference, staff members worked tirelessly to sell and distribute roses, with delegates eagerly flocking to the rose tables during lunch breaks to send messages of encouragement, appreciation, and maybe even a little flirtation.

From anonymous admirers sending roses to staff members, to faculty advisors writing heartfelt notes to their delegates, and friends exchanging tokens of appreciation, the atmosphere at LIMUN was infused with warmth and positivity.

A delegate from the COP committee admitted they hadn’t sent or received any roses but said they wished they had sent one to their faculty advisors to thank them for their support throughout the conference. It was a reminder that while MUN can be intense, small gestures of kindness can make a world of difference.

For many students, receiving a rose with a handwritten note attached provided a much-needed boost of motivation, proving that at LIMUN, a simple flower can mean far more than an unoriginal Valentine’s Day bouquet.
