Crisis: Caracas Attacked! - Were Royalists Ships Really to Blame?

Written by Adam Blake, Journalist, LIMUN 2026

A coordinated effort from multiple members of the Patriot Cabinet appears to have placed Caracas, a Royalist stronghold, in a position of extreme vulnerability with tens of thousands of Patriot troops attacking areas surrounding the city. This comes following an inexplicable shore bombardment carried out by ships bearing the Spanish flag.

Why such an attack would be perpetrated by Spanish ships against a major Royalist stronghold is yet to be revealed; the chances of this being a mere accident are almost non-existent. Could it be something more malicious? Whatever the truth may be, the Patriot Cabinet was quick to seize the tactical advantage this afforded them, marching tens of thousands of troops towards both Caracas and Puerto Cabello, with more expected to land in Puerto Cabello as reinforcements.

As it currently stands, the Patriot Cabinet has a significant advantage over the Royalists in terms of cohesion and strategy, with the Royalists being pushed back to what is modern-day northern Venezuela, as well as pockets in other regions of the continent. If Caracas is to fall, the Royalists will have lost their major stronghold in the region and a major hub for logistics.

Despite this position, the Crisis is far from over. Though a greater amount of cohesion in strategy, like what is seen with the Patriots is needed, the Royalists have the resources to mount a counter-offensive against the Patriots. Whether this occurs on Day 3 of the conference is yet to be seen.
