Pirates Invade IMO

Written by Sofia Lambis, Press Chair, LIMUN 2026

Yesterday, International Marine Organisation (IMO) Committee proceedings were disrupted when two pirates burst into the room demanding to have their voices heard.

The Committee had previously been discussing how to strengthen cooperative frameworks to combat piracy.

Identifying as merely ‘The Pirates’ the swashbuckling pair were adorned in eyepatches, hoop earrings and gold necklaces. Sadly, talking parrots were noticeably absent.

The Pirates engaged in heated debate, exclaiming ‘ARR’ and boasting of their seafaring prowess to the room of bemused delegates. Then they disappeared into the corridor as quickly as they had arrived, leaving nothing but a bandanna, and the claim that ‘of all [their] adventures, LIMUN was [their] biggest one’ in their wake. Is this the last we’ve heard from them? Can we expect more pirates in LIMUN Committees? Only time will tell.

The IMO has been contacted for comment.
